Challenge #12

So here it is the layout we are both pretty proud of. This challenge was to have half or more of the page with journalling and we had to journal about "why we scrapbook? why we are storytellers", the wordart was given to us and had to be on the page, and we had to have a photo of each of us and it had to be in the bottom right. Leigh made the page and we each did our journalling. Then I added the journalling and the wordtags to the page Leigh had created. We worked closely together and it came out great, don't you think!

So if you want to read it, here is the journalling:
Kerri:
Why do I scrap? Good question, I have always loved taking photos and of any holiday I have taken since I had my own camera I have made photo albums. Then digital cameras and pictures came around and I found the wonders of a photo book. And have told the story of my holidays in them. Mostly I let the pictures do the talking with only small additions of place names and people. That said, I have always kept a diary on my holidays and together the photo albums and diary make it whole. From there it was only a small step to finding "digital scrapbooking" and it came at a perfect time in my life. My Mother was just recovering from lung cancer and my husband was about to start a new job which took/takes him away from us during the week. Finding digital scrapbooking has saved me from feeling alone in the evenings. As soon as my boys are in bed, I am on the computer, keeping up with my online friends, scrapping, designing. I swear there are never enough hours in my evenings for all that I want to be able to do. My layouts still lack journalling, I am so used to the pictures doing their own talking, but slowly I am learning that sometimes they don't and that I need to tell the story on the page too. This Race for one has gotten me journalling and really liking the outcome of the layouts. So thank you NDISB for putting on this race. I have loved every challenge and minute of it.

Leigh:
I tell the stories my Mom never told us. My parents made myself and my 3 siblings photo albums when we were younger, all they contained were the pictures with no names, no dates, and no occasions listed. After I had my daughter I was looking for a better way to preserve the memories, some way to tell my daughter the stories behind the pictures long after I could remember or was gone. I had tried papter scrapping but I just couldn't bring myself to cut the pictures up. When I found digital scrapbooking it was perfect. This way I could manipulate the photo's anyway I wanted without feeling like I was destroying them. When my Mom died, making sure the stories were told became even more important to me. My Mom was always the one we went to for the information about the pictures in albums, and now that link is gone. I was determined to make sure my kids, and my family would have these all important pages, my stories. So, for now, I am the storyteller, and I hope someday to pass this on to my daughter so that she may someday be the storyteller. So the stories of our family will live on, for more than just my lifetime.

Thanks again for all your comments, and now fingers xed that we get drawn out of the hat next week. There is actually a 13th Challenge we would have to do together, but it is optional, and we haven't decided yet, if we are going for it or not! Any views on that?!

Challenge #11 - Leigh's Layout

Ooops is right!!! We both fell behind. I had a little bit of a hard time with this challenge. Not in choosing the picture or the question, but in finding a kit that would work for the picture and for me. I finally found one I thought would work....and in the end, I was really happy with the result. So here is my Challenge #11....Good Luck?.....

Ok, so we are already finished with Challenge #12, and Kerri should be getting it onto the blog sometime really soon. We are really proud of the results of this last one. We had to work together to do it and I think we work really well together.....though I was probably a little picky for Kerri's taste....LOL. Just kidding Kerri. Anyway, we hope you have enjoyed the race with us. It's not quite over so.....Until next time.....

Blessings!!!

Challenge #11 - Kerri

Oops, I'm a bit behind, I finished this a while back. the challenge was to scrap a layout with a question, that you have always wanted to ask of anyone living or dead. The only journalling allowed on the layout is the question. Mum had a great idea for me, but I didn't have the bar of chocolate at home to take a picture of. She suggested "Why do you make me put on weight?" I really wanted to do it, but during the evening Sunny our cat came home, and then I remembered one of THE questions that I would love an answer to:

Challenge 10 - Roadblock

Well, a little late getting this layout posted. Challenge 10 was a roadblock and I had to complete this one. So I had to do an interview of Kerri with at least 5 questions, I gave her many more than that because she had to work the next day and wanted something to do at work. Then the layout had to be primarily 2 colors, and you had to use elements from 2 different designers. With the new collab that came out at Been There Scrapped That by Liz- SweetDigiScraps and Valarie Ostrom choosing the kit was easy. The hardest part of this challenge was choosing questions that would allow me to learn new things about Kerri. With that said I give you....KayJay's Journey...

We have moved on to Challenge 11 and 12.....this is the last week of the ADSR!! I can't believe it has gone by so quickly. We will be back soon with the next layouts. Until next time....

Challenge #9 - Kerri's Layout

for some reason I found this challenge the most difficult. Even though it sounded simple enough, include at least two generations on your layout, some lace, something metal, a flower and some ephemera. the first layout I did has gone to layout heaven, it just wasn't right. But I quite like this one.

Challenge #9 - Leigh's Layout

This has been a really hard week for me, and I think it has for Kerri also, so as a result we both are running late with our layouts for the Race. I spent the last part of last week at the Dr's office, I had re-injured my back after more than 10 years and seriously if you haven't ever had kids before this pain ranks right up there with labor. So with a shot of cortisone, some muscle relaxers, pain killers and a heating pad I am almost back to normal with that. Then I spent the first part of this week dealing with an abscessed tooth, again not fun. So with some antibiotics that is now starting to go away and I am feeling almost like a normal person again. But enough about my personal life, since you are here to see our Race layouts. Challenge 9 was interesting, it had to include pictures of two generations (if it was in one picture that was fine), a flower, lace, a metal object, and a "vintage" or "ephemera" object like an old clock, or and old book. It took me a while to find a picture I wanted to use, then with some thinking I knew what kit I wanted to use.....just one problem.....it's been retired. Hmmmmm, well lets see, so I started through my stash of kits on CD and what did I find??? The kit I wanted to use, I already had it (I thought I might have which is why I was going through my stash). So, I know what you're saying....let's see the layout already......OK, here you go......it's called Time.......

Ok so I'm off to start on Challenge 10, it's a Roadblock and since Kerri did the last one guess what??? I get to do this one. I have some ideas for it so maybe I can get started on the layout and finish it tomorrow after I get to talk with Kerri. So until next time....

Blessings!!!
